Privacy

Short version: this is a small zine run by one person (hi, Brian). I collect the minimum I need to send you emails if you signed up, see which posts people are reading, and keep spam out of the comments. I don't sell anything to anyone.

What I collect

Newsletter email address. If you subscribe, I store your email in Resend (my email sending service) so I can send you the newsletter. Nothing else.

Analytics. I use Google Analytics 4 (via Google Tag Manager) to see page views, traffic sources, and rough geography. This is anonymized — no individual tracking. You can opt out via the cookie banner and nothing will be reported.

Comments. If you leave a comment, I store the name and email you provide along with your comment. Your email is never published or shared — it's only used so I can reply or moderate spam.

Server logs. My host (Cloudflare) keeps standard access logs: IP, timestamp, URL requested. I don't look at these unless something is broken.

What I don't collect

Location data, device fingerprints, advertising profiles, behavioral targeting data, or anything beyond what's listed above. No ads. No affiliate tracking. No data sold to brokers.

Who I share it with

Resend ( resend.com ) — email delivery. They see your email address and the content of emails I send you.

Google ( Analytics ) — aggregate analytics, only when you've accepted the cookie banner.

Cloudflare ( cloudflare.com ) — hosting, media storage, and DNS. They see request metadata (IP, user agent) as any web host would.

No one else. No advertisers. No data brokers. No AI training partnerships. No newsletters-of-newsletters.

Cookies

cookie_consent — records your choice from the banner (granted or denied). Expires after 365 days. Set by this site only.

Google Analytics cookies (_ga, _ga_*) — only set if you accept the banner. Used for anonymized analytics. Expires after 2 years.

EmDash session cookies — only set if you log into the admin (i.e., not relevant to normal visitors).

Your rights

Unsubscribe anytime. Every newsletter email has an unsubscribe link. One click, done.

Opt out of analytics. Click Opt out in the cookie banner at the bottom of the page. If you've already accepted, clear your cookies and reload to see the banner again.

Ask me to delete your data. Email me at privacy@verytrulyyours.xyz and I'll remove your subscription, any comments, and anything else I can find with your name on it. No forms, no friction.

If you're in the EU or UK, GDPR gives you additional rights (access, portability, objection). Same deal — email me.

How long I keep things

Newsletter subscriptions: until you unsubscribe or ask me to remove you.

Comments: until you ask me to remove them (or I mark them as spam).

Analytics: aggregated and anonymized in Google's systems. I can't delete individual rows because individuals aren't identified.

Cloudflare access logs: retained per Cloudflare's policy (typically a few days).

Updates to this page

If I change how any of this works, I'll update the date at the bottom. If it's a meaningful change (e.g., I start using a new service), I'll mention it in the newsletter.
